What is the Treatment? (3 points each)
Using what you learned in the lesson, tell me what you would do in each of the following scenarios. Please answer in complete sentences. Each question is worth 3 points! Make sure your answer reflects that. I WILL take off points for lack of effort.
1. There is a basilisk on the loose! What can you do to prepare for those who might get Petrified?
2. Your friend returns to the dormitory looking extremely disheveled. He says he ran into an enemy. It looks like he has broken his nose. How can you help him?
3. There is a first year who rarely leaves the common room. She is almost always alone and never talks to anyone. What can you do to help her out?
4. In the dueling club, your friend is hit by an unknown spell. He appears to be stunned. Which spell was he most likely hit by? How do you revive him?
5. At a quidditch practice, one of the Chasers is hit very hard by a Bludger. He falls off his broom. Luckily, he was not too far up, but his arm appears to be broken. What can you do to make him more comfortable before heading towards the hospital wing?
6. You notice a classmate who never seems happy. In fact, he looks depressed for many days in a row. What can you do to help him out?
7. On your various visits to the hospital wing, you constantly see the same student. He seems to always get sick. What can you do to boost his immune system?
8. During Apparition practice, a nearby student accidentally leaves behind a finger. What can you suggest to the student?
9. You and your friends are planning a trip to London. You collectively decide to take the Knight Bus. However, one friend is not so happy with that decision, saying she gets queasy easily. How can you help her?
10. At the Welcoming Feast, you and your friends help yourselves to plenty of food. Suddenly, one of your friends is holding her neck and struggling to breathe. How do you help her?
Please complete TWO (2) options. Each option is worth 15 points.
1. Invent your own Healing Spell. What is the incantation? How is the spell used in Healing? What are the effects of the spell? (Minimum 100 words)
2. Draw or create a picture of a plant or herb used in Healing. It does not have to be a plant or herb mentioned in the lesson. Please include the name of the plant or herb in your picture. Upload your picture to an image-hosting site and send me the link.
3. Find more information about a plant or herb mentioned in the lesson OR research a plant or herb not mentioned in the lesson. Summarize what you have found. (Minimum 100 words)
4. Research the etymology of one or more of the spells mentioned in the lesson (anapneo, episkey, tergeo, etc.). Comment on whether you think the incantation is appropriate. (Minimum 100 words)
