The object of this course is to explore some mathematical puzzles and oddities, plus taking a look at a system of mathematics that you may never have seen before. We will also give you some tricks that your Muggle friends may see as magic, but won't have the Ministry accusing you of under-age magic. Math is sometimes considered a dull subject, but we are going to have some fun with it.
Since mathematics is not a regular course at Hogwarts I will be very surprised if people get answers to the math questions right all the time. I might even assume that they are cheating and dock them points.
When discussing a particular puzzle, if anyone knows of similar examples, feel free to mention it so we can all consider it. The book for the course lists the main puzzles and paradoxes that we may discuss, but time limitations may mean that we don't get to all of them, and it is possible that others may be substituted for one or more of those listed in the book.
