Sunday Gravy W Meat

Cook time 1 - 4 hours ( the longer the better) Serves:4
EVOO
1 LB Ground Beef
1/2 LB ground italian sausage
3 cloves garlic sliced
1 can crushed tomatoes (28 oz)
1 can whole tomatoes (28 0z)
1/3 cup red wine
1 handful parsley chopped
1 Tbsp fresh chopped oregano
1 tsp red pepper flakes
S&P
In a heavy sided skillet, drizzle a little EVOO and begin to brown your meat. Season with S&P. When almost all the pink is gone, add garlic and stir in. Finish browning meat. Add crushed tomatoes and liquid from whole tomatoes. Crush whole tomatoes with hand or with a potato masher in the skillet. Season with S&P. Add wine and reduce heat. Let simmer, stirring occasionally and checking seasoning. Add fresh herbs 30 minutes before serving.
Best served over pasta. Also great for a pizza base.
