Follow the directions below and complete the assignments. This counts!!!!!!

Students should read pp. 162-174 in class silently or in small groups. Using the attached Timeline Template (in materials section), students will then construct a timeline of historical cryptographic methods. In addition to including methods discussed in Chapter 5, have students research and add in ones that were covered in the previous lessons. Students can read silently, then work in pairs or small groups to construct timelines that can be shared at the end of class with the entire group.

Students will read pp. 187-193 of the book. During the reading, students should complete the “Now That’s Surprising” Template. They can include surprising ideas from this section of Chapter 5 and from any earlier part of the chapter. Once they are finished, ask students to share a couple of their surprising ideas with a peer. Then ask them to share their ideas with the whole class.
