This site organizes my attempts at writing a set of skills-based assessments for Intermediate Algebra. These pages will make little sense without prior reading of Dan Meyer's text on skills-based assessment and of my notes on how applying this system went last year. Glenn Waddell's work on breaking down his Algebra 3/4 course would also be helpful background.
My Intermediate Algebra course is essentially Algebra 2 without conics or discrete math, and is offered for students who do not take Algebra 2 Honors. The left hand margin lists topic areas in the course, and each links to a page for notes and sample assessments. (That is, most do - some lack either notes or files or both, but nevermind.)
The total number of skills listed so far is far too large for this type of piecewise assessment, and only a subset of those listed will actually be used. Some assessments may overlap while I work on finding sensible ways of slicing the course into suitable bits. However, once final decisions are made this will result in a skills list with each item linked to a sample assessment.
