Abstract: »In recent years, the issue of sex trafficking of women has forcefully emerged in Argentina. In the process, a wide range of actors have participated such as civil society organizations (religious feminist groups and feminist organizations stemming from other processes of political organization), international organizations and governmental actors. The aim of this paper is to reconstruct historically the process of social configuration of this issue throughout the period 1998-2008; that is starting with the presentation of the Argentinean draft for the Palermo protocol for the enactment of the law 26.364 “Prevention and punishment of trafficking in persons and assistance to the victims”. It is my purpose to identify the set of actors who have participated in this process, while focusing on their ideological positions and analyzing the initial public policy actions which reveal the government´s agenda regarding women trafficking. In this analysis, focusing on the interplay between international and local stages, in which activists and governmental actors took positions and developed actions, is unavoidable. I propose, in this sense, to analyze the feminist debates in the interplay between local, supranational and transnational spheres thereby recognizing the weight the stances of other nation states have acquired in this disputed arena.« (Source: Publicar)
