Abstract: »Michelle Kelso's chapter, "Romani Women and the Holocaust: Testimonies of Sexual Violence in Romanian-Controlled Transnistria," examines the understudies genocide of the Roma. Specifically, she focuses on Roma women in the Romanian landscape of the Holocaust using oral histories and archival documents. Kelso argues that women's particular experiences of the Holocaust have been marginal in dominant accounts of history and that this marginalization is both protective and problematic. She examines how Romani women processed their suffering through the prism of Romani culture and the gendered parameters of women's roles.« (JoAnn DiGeorgio-Lutz and Donna Gosbee. »Introduction.« Women and Genocide: Gendered Experience of Violence, Survival, and Resistance.
