Abstract: »The following chapter, by Aparna Gollapudi, analyses cases of sodomitical sexual violence against young men and boys as they were recorded in the Proceedings of the Old Bailey. As Gollapudi demonstrates, court officials tended to feminize the bodies of young male victims, in some ways figuring them as akin to raped underage girls. Gollapudi's analysis sheds light on a body of court cases that have been overlooked in recent scholarship, as well as on early eighteenth-century attitudes towards children, who are often figured in these cases as at once ignorant ingénues and cunning tricksters.« (Source: Anne Greenfield. »Introduction.« Interpreting Sexual Violence, 1660-1800.
