The War of the Roses was a terribly destructive, long-lasting, civil war in England between two families.

With rival claims to the throne, the Yorks and the Lancasters.

One of the bedrooms at Bolling Hall is generally known as "The Ghost Room

Nobody within living memory has actualy seen a ghost there, but there is a story that one appeared there once, long ago.

Earl of Newcastle

It was the witching hour, almost dawn...that William Cavendish, Earl of Newcastle, received a visitation, a spritual apparition of a woman in white."

I remember when i was younger we used to go there, so creepy in the bedroom and the stories of the balcony the silence used to scare me also, stone floors and the smell still there are clear as yesterday, but i was only young then...

Thank you for posting......I find the history most interesting and getting a glimpse into these fantastic estates.....They're all so beautiful, but it's the history and people that makes it so intriguing....
