Lace companies created jobs, and lace allowed for new designs in fashion and for the home.  Lace is used in undergarments, dresses and tops, table cloths, and other home goods.  As fashion constantly changes, so does popular lace uses and designs, but lace is timelessly seen as an item of luxury and class.  The Duchess of Cambridge, Catherine Elizabeth Middleton, exemplifies the current luxury of lace with her gorgeous lace wedding gown that she wore when she married Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, on  April 29, 2011 (bottom right photograph).
