Joe and Kathy Narens grew up in Texarkana, AR.  They are very family orientated and love spending time with their grown children and their 2 Grandsons.  Joe and Kathy are members of St. Edward's Catholic Church.  They are very active in community projects.

Joe and Kathy are active in working with the Physically Disabled and the Less-Fortunate Youth in their community.  They host outings on their property for these individuals and groups.  It is on this property that their calling from God to build the Hi-Point Retreat Center will be located.  Joe and Kathy have owned this property since 1991.  Since that time they have always known that the property was given to them from God and they have treated the property as a gift, a treasure from God, in reaching out to those that have no place to go to enjoy The Great Outdoors.

Reality of Hi-Point Retreat Center

The reality is, Hi-Point Retreat Center has not yet been constructed.  However, the dreams of Joe and Kathy Narens making Hi-Point Retreat Center a reality "will" come to be.  This is a call from God and with God, "All Things Are Possible."

Joe and Kathy own 300 acres of land, which was given to them from God and they know that God has called them to be stewards of this great gift.

Hi-Point Retreat Center will be located 15 South of Texarkana, just a 10 minute drive from Loop 245 and South State Line.  Hi-Point Retreat Center is centrally located, just 1 hour from Shreveport, Louisiana, 2 hours from Little Rock, AR and 3 hours from Dallas, TX.

The facilities at Hi-Point Retreat Center will create a serene, charming environment for groups or 5 to 50 for day use or overnight accommodations, Monday through Sunday.

The facilities of Hi-Point Retreat Center will be available weekdays to non-profit organizations and schools for their retreats and meetings.  The Retreat House will be nestled in the wooded acres in the serene, picturesque setting overlooking the lake, yet is easily accessible from major highways.  Nature Trails on the grounds follow along through giant oak and cypress tress.  As other nature trails wind through beautifully landscaped gardens.  With guests catching glimpse of wildlife in their natural habitat.

Joe and Kathy Narens, Hi-Point Retreat Center Executive Directors, will serve as your centralized resource for scheduling and planning your meetings.  They will provide you with any assistance you may need - room reservations, audio-visual requirements, meal planning and overnight accommodations.

Hi-Point Retreat Center's Mission:

Believing that peace comes from God, and flows through the human heart, Hi-Point Retreat Center will seek to be a channel of God's peace in the lives of His people and therefore, the world.

Hi-Point Retreat Center will be a center of spirituality called to serve God's people through prayer and by providing the opportunity to spend time in silence and solitude of a simple environment.  In the midst of the natural beauty of the forest, people of faiths will be invited to come and respond to God's call:

"Be still and know that I am God."  (Psalm 46:11)

"From Restlessness To Resting In God"

Many are busy and focused on self, yet are unfulfilled and restless.
We pray with St. Augustine, "My heart is restless until it rests in thee."
Share with Jesus a weekend of restful companionship and renewal of spirit for daily life.

Would You Like To Help Make Hi-Point Retreat Center A Reality?

Ways That You Can Help...

Planned and Deferred Gifts:

Trust were once considered a financial-planning tool only for the very wealthy.  Today financial planning seminars point to the advantage of trusts for people of even modest means.  Trusts, annuities, and bequests are some of the ways to give a deferred gift.  You may wish to make a significant gift to Hi-Point Retreat Center, but hesitate out of concern that you will need the funds for other purposes.  Through planned or deferred gifts, you need not choose between charitable giving and not giving.  You can make a gift that benefits Hi-Point Retreat Center while still providing for yourself or a family member.  In short, you can make a significant gift without sacrificing other financial needs.

There are different types of trusts and annuities that can be customized to your specific financial requirements.  Contact Joe or Kathy Narens if you would like to know more about this gift opportunity.

Current Gifts:

Current Gifts differ from Deferred Gifts in that the giver receives an immediate charitable contribution deduction that reduces federal income taxes in exchange for giving up rights to donated property.  This property, for example, can be in the form of cash, tangible personal property, appreciated property such as, stocks or bonds or real estate.

Smaller Gifts:

"Gifts provide the seed, from that seed grows our strength and effectiveness as a Retreat Center. For the extraordinary generosity of our friends who have sown the seed, we are grateful - you make it possible for people to find here a life of prayer, to experience God."

Volunteer:

The effective work of Hi-Point Retreat Center depends on dedicated group of volunteers.  If you would like to become part of the loyal Friends of Hi-Point Retreat Center, we would be delighted to hear from you. Your commitment of a few hours a week is of great value to us.
