The Lord will save me, and we will sing with stringed instruments all the days of our lives in the temple of the Lord. - Isaiah 38:20
Cigar Box Guitars have a great history, these handcrafted instruments are truly a joy to play!
Each CBG has it's own unique sound and personality; they are made by hand one at a time in our small workshop . They're small, portable and almost indestructible...and let's face it, they look cool as heaven and attract major attention!
The cigar box guitars I make I consider very affordable compared to other instruments that are available. Some of these instruments can cost as much as $1000.00 or more. My guitars will usually be priced below $200.00. Each guitar is unique and no two guitars are exactly alike.
All my guitars will be either 3 string or 4 string models. A “standard” (if there is such a thing) CBG typically only has three strings, tuned in open tuning such as open E or Open G, but can be tuned any way you like.
My guitars are fretted or fretless, the fretless versions are designed to be played with a slide. Fretless models will have fret markers on the neck.
Four string models can also be tuned in a variety of ways. They may be open tuning, or the top 4 or bottom 4 strings from a 6 string. Since these guitars use piezo transducers for pickups, they may also be strung with nylon or classical strings and still work find when plugged into an amp.
For the Electric Enthusiast I use the Flatpup 3 Humbucker which is designed for three-string instruments. It can normally be mounted between the strings and the top, thus avoiding big openings and retaining the authentic look ,feel and acoustic sound of the cigar box guitar.
The necks are made from red oak or maple, and depending on the specific guitar, may have an additional fingerboard made of red oak, or poplar, unless otherwise specified. They may be stained, or finished in natural wood, depending on the box they will be attached to. Most will have a neck through design where all of the neck inside the box. The lids do not touch the neck and thus allow acoustics to flow natural.

Gordon Munding
Gordon Munding music takes you back to the roots of acoustic blues and folk music from rural America. It conjures up the Appalachians and Piedmont regions, where country blues is a kissin' cousin to the Delta blues.
Gordon's playing is influenced by the likes of Roy Book Binder, Doc Watson, Blind Willie McTell, and the slide guitar work of John Mooney and Guy Davis. Though he lives in Rochester, NY, Gordon has absorbed the styles of these artists and carries on the tradition of country blues.
