I am a third year PhD student in Computer Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign (UIUC). My broad research interests could be described as Data 𝓧, where 𝓧 ∈ {mining, science, analytics, etc.}. I work with Prof. Hari Sundaram on mining and modeling online social media—studying the sustainability of these platforms. Our research extends “stylized theories” from Economics and other social science disciplines to develop explanatory models. I also work with Prof. Aditya Parameswaran on visual analytics—developing an interactive visual summarization system. I have recently worked as a research intern at Adobe Research (Summer 2016), and Visa Research (Summer 2018).

In my previous life, I was a lecturer in Computer Science and Engineering at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), having completed my B.Sc. from the same department. I received several honors for my undergraduate research including The Undergraduate Awards [world's largest academic awards program for undergraduates], invited young researcher at Heidelberg Laureate Forum [prestigious meeting with the Abel, Fields, and Turing Laureates], and National ICT Achievement Award [prestigious recognition in ICT by the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh].
