I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Cognitive Science at the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, India. I lead the Language Processing Lab, Kanpur. I did my Ph.D. with Prof. Dr. Shravan Vasishth at the University of Potsdam, Germany; see dissertation. 

I study cognitive processes that underlie language comprehension and production in humans. I am interested in two broad questions:  (1) How is language processed, represented, and acquired in the mind, and how does it involve/interact with other cognitive processes such as working memory, attention, and decision-making? (2) How does language as a complex system evolve in terms of its quantitative distribution of structural preferences? 

I use Bayesian modeling (including approximate Bayesian computation), psycholinguistic experimentation, and crosslinguistic corpora analysis for my work.
