I've just installed Advanced Desktop Shield onto the IT Lab computers allowing the instructor to preserve settings for the desktop, screen resolution, screen savers, etc. This resolves issues with older students being able to put whatever photos they wanted onto the desktops which younger students access as well. None that occurred while I've been there were inappropriate, but disruptive when students noticed the changes, gathered around, asking how to do this themselves, etc. Locking down basic computer settings helps to keep the class focused, and saves the instructor valuable class time.
