Congratulations Kansas City!
Unfortunately Google did not pick
New Haven for their gigabit fiber initiative (at least for the first
round). The announcement was made on 3/30/2011 that Kansas City won the
award. (More info here: http://cnet.co/hK4Ea3) I want to thank all of you for all your support on getting the word out and for getting over a 1000 people to sign on as a partner to the cities application. The GoogleHaven movement (as it became known) spawned some amazing community initiatives such as Social Web Week Connecticut (2nd annual coming up in September), CompHaven, TreeHaven and lots of energy and interest in New Haven that brought PodCamp to town. I really wish Google could see the community that they brought together! It's awe inspiring! Get involved in the other cool things going on in New Haven. We have an amazing city! Jack Nork @jcnork |
