About me

Hideaki Hirata is the professor at the faculty of business administration, Hosei University, Japan. 

His research and teaching focus primarily on empirical macroeconomics & money and banking. His main research topics include (1) empirical studies on international comovements of economic and financial variables, (2) Japanese macro-economy, and (3) fundraising in Japan. Before joining the faculty of Hosei University, he was an economist at the Bank of Japan for 9 years. He conducted research on banking and finance, financial variables, and price indices. He was in charge of the BOJ's outright purchases of ABS related to SME activities, which has been known as the pioneering program of non-traditional monetary policy measures adopted by the Bank of Japan in the early 2000s.

He took a B. A. degree from Keio University in 1996, an M. S. degree in 2001 from Brandeis University, and Ph. D. in 2003 also from Brandeis University. His dissertation (Japanese Business Cycles in the World Economy) advisers are M. Ayhan Kose (Director at World Bank), Sunghyun Henry Kim (Professor at Sungkyunkwan University), Blake LeBaron (Abram L. and Thelma Sachar Professor of International Economics, Brandeis University), and Peter Petri (Carl J. Shapiro Professor of International Finance, Brandeis University).


法政大学経営学部教授の平田英明です。

主な研究・教育の分野はマクロ経済学(実証)と金融です。具体的な研究テーマは、経済変数や金融変数の国際的な連動性、日本のマクロ経済、日本における資金調達などです。法政大学経営学部着任前には、日本銀行でエコノミスト業務に9年間携わりました。金融関連(金融市場、マネーストック)、物価指数に関する調査研究を行うとともに、民間債務を買い切るという非伝統的金融政策の先駆けとなった資産担保証券市場を通じる企業金融活性化のためのスキーム(証券化証券の買入政策)などを担当しました。

学歴としては、慶應義塾大学経済学部卒(1996)、日銀からの派遣留学先のブランダイス大学にて修士号(2001)、博士号(2003)を取得。博士論文はJapanese Business Cycles in the World Economy (指導教員は、 M.
