Meet the Runners

The 2011 Cross Country season looks promising for the Hornets this year. Last year the boys’ team finished 8th at Sectionals while the girls finished 9th. The teams have their sites set higher this year.
"The boys are really running well. They did a lot of miles this summer and showed up really fit. They have a team goal to be the first Heyworth team to make it to state. My job is to help them meet that goal.” said Cross Country Coach Jeff Trask. Pacing the team will be seniors Zach Quinn and Tim Crump, junior Elijah Bobell, and sophomores Cade Martens and Brian King.
The girls return 4 of their top 5 from last year including juniors Nicole Bonnell and Kaley Lobb and
sophomores Hollie Sinn and Allyson Oneal. “We have more ladies out than we have ever had before; 14 ladies and 8 of them are rookies. We have a nice core of 3 or 4. We just need someone to step up before our first race.” said Trask.
Summing up his thoughts on the season, Trask said “They are a great group of kids to be around. No matter what we will have fun.”
