The Heritage League is holding their 47th annual Holiday of Trees on Thursday, November 29 and Friday, November 30 at accessible Westminster Presbyterian Church.  Westminster is located at 2110 Sheridan Blvd.  (26th and South Streets)  The hours of the event are Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.  The admission price remains at $1 per person.  Tickets may be purchased at the door or from The Heritage League members.

Proceeds from this year’s ticket sales will go to Operation Veterans Encouraging Recovery (OVER).  OVER operates a halfway house in central Lincoln for homeless veterans and veterans with substance abuse problems.  The organization works closely with the VA to promote recovery.

Holiday of Trees will display 24 beautiful trees decorated by community members and organizations. The Holiday of Trees also features music by local musicians, Santa Claus from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. each day, Mrs. Santa throughout the day, expanded Attic Treasures, Pantry of homemade food items, Raffle of several special items, and a Café.

The Bay was the ticket sale recipient of the 2017 Holiday of Trees.  Starting as a safe location where youth could learn to skateboard, the Bay has grown to include a Girls' Club, youth art exhibits, a dedicated space for music practice, and a coffee house.  An Outreach worker is available to help young girls at risk for human trafficking.  Mentoring is available for assistance with math and reading skills.  Future plans include job training for youth interested in the food service industry.
