Clinic with a Heart
The Heritage League is holding their 44th annual Holiday of Trees on Thursday, Dec. 1 and Friday, Dec 2 at accessible Westminster Presbyterian Church. Westminster is located at 2110 Sheridan Blvd. (26th and South Streets) The hours of the event are Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The admission price remains at $1 per person. Tickets may be purchased at the door or from The Heritage League members.
Proceeds from this year’s ticket sales will go to “Clinic with a Heart” that has served the uninsured and underinsured through a ministry of healthcare since May 2003. Their volunteers provide this healthcare at no charge. They currently also provide dental assessments, x-ray services, and care plans and plan to develop procedure rooms to care for patients with dental concerns. They also serve as a gateway to other human service agencies helping patients find an appropriate healthcare home. Proceeds from the other Holiday of Trees sales will be donated to additional local community projects to be voted on at a later date by The Heritage League members.
Holiday of Trees will display 24 beautiful trees decorated by community members and organizations, including Clinic with a Heart and The Heritage League for their 50th Anniversary. The Holiday of Trees also features music by local musicians, Santa Claus from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. each day, Mrs. Santa throughout the day, expanded Attic Treasures, Pantry of homemade food items, Raffle of several special items, and a Café.
Fresh Start was the ticket sale recipient of the 2015 Holiday of Trees. Fresh Start provides a safe, structured alcohol and drug-free environment for women invested in attaining self-sufficiency. Fresh Start provides transitional housing and services to homeless women without children in their custody.
