Jane Kinsey from The Heritage League of Lincoln recently presented Captain Jamie Pennington with a check for $1,000 for The Salvation Army to use for scholarships or supplies for youth attending the eight week Summer Day Camp Program. The camp is for youth in grades K-5 and is limited to 65 campers per session. The low-cost day camp is held at The Salvation Army located at 2625 Potter Street and runs from 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. Monday-Friday. Children are fed breakfast, lunch and a snack daily. Camp activities include summer education activities, recreation, sports, arts & crafts and exciting field trips to the zoo, to a local swimming pool and to a roller skating rink. The camps fill quickly and require preregistration. Funding for the donation came from the December, 2012 Holiday of Trees. The Holiday of Trees is the Heritage League's annual fundraiser and will be held this year on December 5th and 6th at Westminster Presbyterian Church. Heritage League is a member of the General Federation of Women's Clubs, the oldest and largest women's volunteer organization in the country.
