The ticket sale beneficiary of the 2016 Holiday of Trees will be the Clinic with a Heart. The Clinic with a Heart provides free walk-in medical services to those with limited ability to pay. Services include medical, dental assessments, vision and hearing screenings, chiropractic services and physical therapy. Staffed by volunteers, clinics are held on Tuesdays and Thursday. The Clinic is located at 1701 South 17th Street, Suite 4G. Contact the Clinic at (402) 421-2924 or check the web for current schedules and the sign-in process.
Proceeds from the 2016 Holiday of Trees will be used to provide equipment and supplies for the Clinic with a Heart.
Fresh Start was the ticket sale recipient of the 2015 Holiday of Trees. Fresh Start provides a safe, structured, alcohol- and drug-free environment for women invested in attaining self-sufficiency. Fresh Start provides transitional housing and services to homeless women without children in their custody. Homelessness can be caused by a number of reasons: substance abuse, domestic abuse, menal health issues, and/or economics. Fresh Start provides home, hope, and security as they recover and re-establish themselves into the community.
An on-site shop called "The Daisy" offers low and no-cost clothing for women. The Daisy accepts gently used clothing and small housewares from community volunteers on Mondays and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The shop is open between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. every third Thursday.
The Heritage League invites you to visit the 2016 Holiday of Trees and to support the Clinic with a Heart. Tickets are $1 and available at the door.
