Ticket Proceeds to Benefit
Fresh Start will be the ticket sale recipient of the 2015 Holiday of Trees. Fresh Start provides a safe, structured, alcohol- and drug-free environment for women invested in attaining self-sufficiency. Fresh Start provides transitional housing and services to homeless women without children in their custody. Homelessness can be caused by a number of reasons: substance abuse, domestic abuse, menal health issues, and/or economics. Fresh Start provides home, hope, and security as they recover and re-establish themselves into the community.
An on-site shop called "The Daisy" offers low and no-cost clothing for women. The Daisy accepts gently used clothing and small housewares from community volunteers on Mondays and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The shop is open between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. every third Thursday.
The 2014 ticket sale recipient was Christian Heritage. $5000 was donated to provide funding for two of their programs.
Destination…..DadTM, operated in cooperation with Nebraska’s Department of Corrections, undertakes to improved a child’s relationship with his/her father through parenting education and consistent mentoring along with regular visits between the fathers and their children.
Family Finding is a program based on locating relatives of children currently living in foster care, The goal is to connect each child with a family so every child can benefit with the lifelong connections that only family provides. Christian Heritage staff assist these relatives in determining what role they will play in the child’s future.
The Heritage League invites you to visit the Holiday of Trees and to support Fresh Start. Tickets are $1 and available at the door.
