Bauang

The main resort area is Bauang, which is a few kilometers south of San Fernando (La Union).  The resorts, which date back tothe American RnR era when Wallace was a U.S. military facility, are of international standard, offering varying facilities at affordable rates.

The resort area starts about 3 kms north of Bauang town proper, where you will find

In the old Southern Palms Resort, Stiletto’s night club re-opened in December under German management.

Cheerleaders night club (formerly Tramp's) is a popular expat's watering hole which features attractive dancers, the latest rock videos, and the coldest draft on the beach. A flashback to how Angeles bars were 15 years ago in their hay day.

GJ's Footlights  Back on the other side of the Highway, Footlights is a great place for night owls. Affordable prices, and some of the cutest looking dancers in La Union.

Ma Tat’s supplies many of the resorts restaurant’s, and also the expat community with their special meats and groceries.

Ocean Breeze Beach Resort has the in-house Butterfly night Club.

Bali Hai Beach Resort is one of the Philippines favourite escapes, and offers excellent evening buffets, and accommodation in a tropical garden setting, plus Bauang's only beach side swimming pool.  Their Safari Club meet every Wednesday for a foray along the beach, and as far away as Pattaya!  Check out their special promotional deals.

VFW Post 9892 Canteen.  Also on the land-side of the highway the “V” extends a warm welcome to all visitors to their comfortable restaurant. Open from breakfast to dinner, it is a good place to catch up with the local news. Air-conditioned and inexpensive and offering an extensive menu.

Coconut Grove Beach Resort, which features lawn bowling.

China Sea Beach Resort has some nice rooms, bar & restaurant and swimming pool.

Angeles Sports Bar features the days sports events on large screens, has darts and a nice pool table, drinks are served by their lovely GRO’s.

Green Light beachside restaurant offers budget food and drinks, very popular with the expat community for it's position on the beach catches a cooling breeze.  Home to the LU Hash House Harriers.  Mein host Angie runs this popular watering hole, which also offers mini golf.

The Tropical Garden Resort is a hidden gem - richly appointed and set back well from the National Highway - is well worth visiting to relax.  Competely re-furbished, private, and secure with swimming pool, meeting room and Wi-fi.

Villa Estrella Beach Resort is a nice Spanish Colonial design resort, with all the usual facilities.

The old Sunset Palms has been renovated and is now the Coral Beach Resort, owned by Pat & Marycris.

Long Beach Resort is the establishment resort on the beach, also with all the usual facilities.

Early morning walkabout in the resort area

The next beach is Canaoay. Get off the bus at

Airport Road - just after the Pagdalagan Bridge - for the short trike ride to Sunset Bay Resort , in its own well established tropical gardens, this small secluded resort fronts onto a safe white sandy beach, which is for the most part deserted. The sea is crystal clear, ideal for snorkelling. It is a must to visit with an infinity swimming pool and large function room. The menu is excellent, the drinks cold and prices are very reasonable. Stop by and say G’day to Warren the manager, over a cold one.
