Welcome to the website of Herefordshire Organists' Society
The Society is a registered charity, founded in 1992 and affiliated to the Incorporated Association of Organists. We currently have around 80 members and hold meetings usually once a month. These meetings take the form of visits to local organs of interest and those further afield, talks about organs and organ music, and social events such as our annual lunch. For full details of planned events please click on the
Forthcoming Events page.
Our membership is made up of all sorts of people interested in the organ: professional and amateur players, those who enjoy listening to organ music and those interested in the construction and sound of the organ.
Our subscription rates are modest and new members are always very welcome. HOS is committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of children and young people who choose to join the society or become engaged in its activities. We encourage young people to join the society and there is no subscription charge for children or students in full time education. We also run a service for churches and individuals seeking an organist to cover a service. Please click here for details.
A Message from our Chairman
Welcome to the website of the Herefordshire Organists’ Society. As you will see, we are a lively society with an interesting and varied programme throughout the year. Our membership encompasses many different walks of life, but all, players and non-players alike, share a love and fascination for the wonderful instrument that is the organ. Our area contains a wonderful variety of instruments ranging from the Willis organs in Hereford Cathedral and St Michael’s Church Tenbury at one extreme, to some beautiful small country church organs at the other. We are a most sociable group, numbering around 80, and would be more than delighted to welcome you to our membership, if you are not already ‘one of us’!
Roger Judd, Chairman of Herefordshire Organists' Society
