Yeast Bread

2 cups warm water
1/3 cup sugar
1/4 cup melted shortening or butter
1 egg
4 1/2 tsps. yeast (2 pkgs)
1 1/2 tsp. salt
6 cups flour

1. Mix first 6 ingredients together. 

2. Add in 3 cups of the flour and mix together.

3. Add in additional 2 cups of flour and mix together.  If still wet, add a little more flour.

4. Turn dough onto floured surface and knead for 5-8 minutes, adding in the last cup of flour as you knead.

5. Let rise in a warm place for about an hour or until double in size.

6. Turn out dough and divide into two separate pieces.  Form these pieces into loaves and put into greased loaf pans.

7. Let rise again for about 30 minutes or until just above the top of the loaf pan. 

8. Preheat oven to 350°F.  Bake loafs for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown on top. Let cool before slicing.
