I have a B.A. degree from Seattle Pacific University in Music History/Composition and a minor in Communications. Teaching private piano lessons for over 40 years; I've written a series of lesson planning books for piano teachers. Actively involved in commercial recordings, local theater as a pit musician, church music director and principal percussionist for the Klamath Symphony Orchestra there isn't a lot of extra time. I have performed for thousands, recorded commercials and music beds for national airing, directed regional honor bands and choirs and been a guest conductor/clinician several times. I have almost 40 years experience as a church choir director and currently direct the music program for Westside Community Church and play piano for First Presbyterian Church. Although I am busy, I’m just me, doing what I do and lovin' it.
On a student’s suggestion, I applied for a music teaching position at a local private school and taught in the private school setting for 9 years. I’m now in my 7th year in public school and enjoy seeing music change the lives of students and families in positive ways. I especially enjoy that moment when a student suddenly sees how music all fits together.
I have been happily married to my wife Kathy since 1982; have a son with a PhD in medieval musicology and two daughters; one is a professional artist working on a degree in medical office information systems and another who just graduated from Western Oregon University with a degree in elementary education. Together our family is a champion sand castle team, building castles on the west coast.
I enjoy technology (when it works), wood working, camping, fishing (catching is more fun), old fast cars and people watching.
