Hendra Hermawan earned his BS and MS (2002) from Institut Teknologi Bandung (Indonesia) and PhD (2009) from Université Laval (Canada) all
in materials engineering. He received a professional recognition as Chartered Engineer (Engineering Council UK, 2013) and professionally trained in cathodic protection (NACE, 2013). Since autumn 2014, he has served as assistant professor at Université Laval. His research program revolves around biomaterials and corrosion aiming to seek fundamental understanding on electrochemical degradation of biomaterials to better design new medical implants. He serves the scientific community as editorial board member at Scientific Reports (Nature) and Journal of Orthopaedic Translation (Elsevier).
