At the end of it all, I feel, there are two categories of low that is innately so (less likely to come into medical schools) and the second, pushed into lower achievements due to several factors in medical schools! (Monika)

Various reasons for low achievement:

·Good teaching matters - low achievers tend to be assigned to less effective teachers

·Many teachers expect students to adjust to the way they teach, rather than adjusting their teaching to the way students learn

·Teaching and learning tends to be seen as two disconnected activities

·Teachers must take responsibility for student learning and achievement

·Most of what teachers learn is learned on the job, not in graduate school

·Find ways to reduce teacher isolation

Current Realities affecting achievement:

• Increased content

• Limited time for planning and collaboration

• Electronic revolution

• Greater Accountability

• Increased Diversity
