Could you do with an occasional helping hand in Aspley Guise?

Helping Hands in Aspley Guise is a group of local volunteers who have formed a “good neighbour” scheme to help people who live in the village of Aspley Guise, Bedfordshire.

We are already helping a number of Aspley Guise people who need an extra pair of hands in all sorts of simple ways … especially those who are finding it harder to get around, have simple problems in the house, need some company or even need a lightbulb changed!

Here are some of the things we can do to help you – whatever age you are - in Aspley Guise:

  • Driving you to / from appointments at local/regional surgeries and hospitals, our local shopping centres, your social activities and more*
  • Helping you at your home with simple tasks
  • Sitting with you for a chat and a cuppa
  • …and lots more – see ouHelping Hands Services page for details

All our volunteers are Aspley Guise and district residents who have been checked and passed by the DBS (Disclosure and Barring Services, formerly the CRB or Criminal Records Bureau), and are fully insured. Every volunteer you meet will be wearing their Helping Hands in Aspley Guise identity badge which has a photo of them on it.

“Helping Hands” groups across Bedfordshire

We are now one of over 40 “good neighbour” groups in Bedfordshire villages, all working within the BRCC (Bedfordshire Rural Communities Charity.) The BRCC provides us with back-up, sharing of best practice among all local groups, and an established framework for the conduct and operation of our group.
