My goal was to reduce government involvement in personal lives, if financially able in 2014, I will try again!
When I was licensed in the State of California as a Land Surveyor, I took an oath to protect the health, safety and welfare of the public. I took this to heart and lived up to it. Even though I had a duty to my client (who paid the bill), I also had a duty first to the general public that no encroachments were laid upon them. From a young age, I have always spoken out when I and others were being mistreated. As your elected official, I will do the same.
There are times when our fellow citizens may need help, they pay taxes and can be afforded assistance from their government. As a Republican, I am embarrassed by the actions of the party of the past and present. I will vote against a bill if it squanders taxpayer's money and does not benefit the taxpayer, for there needs to be a return on their investment.
I do not have some fantasy that once I enter the House of Representative, that I will come in as some CEO and snap my fingers and get things done. I know I will need to reach across party lines and present my ideas and negotiate.
I understand as well that my opponent is consider to be bought and paid for and that he is now an Institution. With your help, we can make a difference and show others how to do it. Please, write my name in for District No. 8.
There are many special interest groups that have formed to protect the revenue of the unions and pensions. Arizona in 2010 passed a proposition to increase sales tax by 1%. A document on the state's web site showed that this money was used to support pensions. To often, we hear we need more money for the children's education, sadly, this is not happening. As a Congressman, I would push for reform of our educational system. Our system in this country is to treat individuals as made from the same mold or to lump them in one basket. The consequences of this, is that children realize the injustice of this practice and rebels. This is natural; no one wishes to be placed in the corner with no defense to retaliate. We see this in school dropout rates, criminal activities, and teenage pregnancy.
We have basically 12 different types of egos or personality traits in human beings. We should identify these traits early on and tailor their education accordingly. These traits have positive and negative ones, and highlighting the positive and working with the child to find alternatives to the negative ones will provide the child with the most strength in life to succeed.
The school system is bloated with high overhead costs. I would like to see an agreement to review the pension system created by government and transfer it to the Social Security System. Individuals would still have a right to supplement with private plans
President Roosevelt had his own reasons for implementing social security. When the country was transformed into an industrial giant, society changed to accommodate it. The consequences of this is that it left citizens vulnerable to the ups and downs of the economy. Companies and country owed it to citizens to provide a safety net for their participation. Today, nothing has changed, and with the vulnerability of the economy, which can now be predicted, to happen every 10 years because of businesses poor ethics, we need social security intact for all citizens. I would like to see the age limits returned to the original date of 65 years. With the incompetence of the stock market, corporations and our government, we should not continue dumping on our fellow citizens to pay for their ignorance.
It would be preferred to have cheap and clean energy. We need to do our best in providing energy because energy is the lifeblood of this country, but we must not do so at an unsustainable cost to the public. I would like to see a reform in our energy policy that if need be, trading of energy be done so speculators cannot manipulate prices and if businesses attempt to manipulate prices, that like our banks, an agency like the FDIC would step in and prepare it for new management.
I also would like to see more nuclear plants built by the US government and leased to private management firms. Also, nuclear plants in the USA produce 100% radioactive waste. These new plants would be design to reduce that amount of waste to 5%: We would follow France’s lead on this.
In closing ...
It is sad to see that the driving force behind America’s policies and methods still follow the philosophies of Plato and Aristotle. Surely we have wised up after 2500 years of trial and errors. My goal would be to insert a more human element in our actions and to stop initiating wars and hostile takeovers just so that we can have sugar and rice on the table and our son’s and daughter’s risk their lives for it.
Arizona Republic Opinions, Northwest valley on August 4, 2012, published my letter, it says:
Time to separate church and state
Now is not the time for partisan platforms. Let us seek the candidate whose principles are more like our founding fathers, and that excludes oppressive laws and higher taxes.
U.S. Rep. Trent Franks and Arizona Rep. Debbie Lesko, as well as others, have been weakening the separation of church and state. President George Washington had said, “Religion is a matter which belongs to the church and not to the state.”
Reviewing a “2012 survey questions for candidates” by the Center for Arizona Policy, a non-profit, it is clear the two are bringing religious issues into government. State Representative Lesko ranks 100 percent in following its policy and Franks once served as its executive director.
It seems every 4 years for the past 40, we keep hearing the same issues over and over again, yet they have not solved the problems. Abortion, another topic repeated, seems to be a religious test.
Citizens do need to take back America from our politicians. It would be a mistake to return the same people and expect a different result. Our forefathers took a big risk, at least we can do is to take a little risk and vote someone new into office.
