Why Therapy?

It may be that you are going through a difficult time at the moment - or have become aware of longstanding problems which you are now realising have been affecting your relationships and your ability to cope with your life. You want to do something about it, but you don't know quite what. You wonder if psychotherapy or counselling might help. I hope that by visiting this web site you'll be able to judge whether therapy might be right for you, and whether I'm likely to be the right therapist.

How am I qualified to help?
I have a Diploma in  Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy from the Bath Centre for Psychotherapy and Counselling(BCPC) and have been a UKCP registered psychotherapist between 1999 and 2014. I also have a Diploma in counselling and am a registered counsellor and psychotherapist with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I am also a BACP Senior Accredited Counsellor and Psychotherapist. I follow the BACP ethical framework.

I have been working as a counsellor since 1988, and as a psychotherapist since 1993. I have worked in a variety of settings. In doctors' surgeries as a primary care counsellor for the NHS and in two young peoples' counselling services where I trained and supervised counsellors as well as counselled young people. I have also worked as a counselling lecturer and group work facilitator on a number of different counselling courses in in both Further and Higher Education, and as a freelance trainer, running workshops up and down the country. The most significant part of my work however has been my busy private practice which for twenty five years has run alongside these other activities. This is what I exclusively focus on now. In this area alone I have had several thousands of hours of experience of working with people with a wide range of issues.

Please note that I shall be retiring at the end of 2017 and so am not taking on any new clients.
