Professional membership
I am a Senior Accredited Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (the BACP). I adhere to their Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions (adopted 2016).

Supervision arrangements
My counselling is supervised by an independent, experienced and qualified practitioner. This supervisory relationship is confidential and I am careful to protect the identity of my clients. Supervision enables me to monitor my effectiveness, development and well-being.

Everything we discuss is treated with respect and normally stays between us confidentially. However, if I believe that there is a serious risk of harm to you or another person, or if you tell me about a case of on-going child abuse, I will discuss my concerns with you and in exceptional circumstances, I may need to break confidentiality. If you tell me anything relating to an act of terrorism or about drug money laundering I will be obliged, by law, to pass details onto the police.

Frequency and duration of Counselling sessions
Counselling appointments are normally weekly or fortnightly. Each appointment lasts one hour. It is helpful to know in advance if an appointment has to be cancelled for any reason.

There is no set limit for the number of counselling sessions a client may have. We will work together and agree what is appropriate in each circumstance. We will take time to review our work regularly and decide together a suitable point to conclude the counselling sessions.
