Hedley Cenotaph Rededication

August 26th – 27th

To celebrate the recent restoration of the Hedley Cenotaph and the addition of two First World War soldiers’names.

Saturday August 26th:

At the Hedley Seniors’ Center:

10:00 am – 11:00  am: Presentation on Hedley soldiers by Andy English and Jennifer Douglass, slides

11:00 am – 11:30 am: Hedley to Vimy, 100 years later: Captain Alec Jack’s story, by Sandy Wightman, slides

At the Hedley Cenotaph:

1:00 pm – 2:00 pm: Rededication ceremony

Hedley Museum back yard:

3:00 pm – 5:00 pm: English Tea and reading of soldiers’letters


August 27th:

At Hedley Seniors’Center

8:00 am – 10:00 am: Pancake breakfast  $5.

New Museum Display:100 years since World War 1

Starting with the 17 men named on the cenotaph, researchers Jen Douglass and Andy English have followed the proportionally huge contribution our small town made during the war. They are contiuing to add to this record as people contact them with more stories.
