I am a researcher in geology with more than 20-years of experience in onshore and offshore geosciences, focused on localization and characterization of active faults and seismic hazard. I have worked on a broad set of active tectonics processes, from regional seismotectonics to site paleoseismological trenching studies. As a result, I have extensive experience in the characterization of the Quaternary activity of faults, seismotectonic and paleoseismological analysis, stratigraphy and structural seismic profile interpretations, to extract as much meaningful information as possible to be used in seismic hazard studies. In addition, I have knowledge in geomorphological and quaternary geological cartography in various geological environments (e.g. glacial or fluvial processes).

Onshore, I have been working in landscape geomorphology and morphometric quantification, the analysis of paleoseismological trenches and the relation between earthquakes, historical or instrumental, and faults. Offshore, I have lead and participated in different geoscience cruises to acquire high-resolution bathymetric data (vessel mounted and AUV surveys) and high-resolution and deep penetration seismics (from vessel mounted to multichannel). Furthermore, I have analyzed, processed and interpreted high-resolution bathymetric and seismic data to identify submarine active faults and determine seismostratigraphic sequences to characterize deformation fault-related events.

I have been working in low slip normal, reverse and strike-slip faults in the onshore and offshore Iberian Peninsula (Catalan Coastal Ranges, East Betic Shear Zone, Iberian Massif, Western Mediterranean, Gulf of Cadiz and Alboran Sea) and in North, Central and South America (Southern California margin, the Trans-Mexican Volcanic Belt in Mexico and Santa Marta Range in Colombia).

Research lines: Seismotectonics, recent tectonic evolution and tectonic geomorphology, fault seismic cycle characterization, paleoseismology, seismic hazard, geological and geomorphological mapping, geological seismic interpretation and GIS.
