26/1/2016 Passing away of Dr Betty Sugden MRCVS on 21/1/2016 aged 96
Mother sadly passed away in January just 6 weeks after entering Maryfield Care Home and after 12 and a half years in Geffery's House when she returned from her 34 years in Zimbabwe in 2002. Mother was well known in Harare as a Veterinary Surgeon for the care and attention she gave to animals of all varieties; she qualified as a Vet in 1944 from the Royal Veterinary College, London. Mother had also been an active member of the Zimbabwean Soroptimists and had held the post of Past President several times. In recent years prior to her departure she helped set up and support of the Melfort Glen Resident home for the elderly. She will be cremated privately and there will be a Memorial Service in Hook at a later date. (Why? then read on...) A week before Mother died I was knocked off my bike in Hook and have had my left leg broken in three places repaired with a very long nail - I came out of hospital on the 25/1 but will be recovering for up to 6 weeks . Richard 30/12/2015 Mother continues to be cared for very well at Maryfield. She had a peaceful Christmas Day with visits from RS and BJ and MN Yesterday(29) cousin Michael visited from London (see photo below) RS Mother BSS has moved from GH and is now in a care home in Hook. For correspondence for her please send to my home address or obtain that from me by emailing me at richard at hebehook.co.uk RS |
