Zambézia

Capital: Quelimane

Major Ethnic Groups: Lomwe, Chuwabo, Sena, Macua

I never went to Zambézia, unless you count stopping in Quelimane's airport on the way to Maputo. It is one of the least developed provinces. But Quelimane is a historic city, mentioned in the Lusiades. And it is one of the few places in Mozambique that celebrates Carnaval- Brazilian style. Apparently,

the people of Zambézia also use the more Brazilian

word abacaxi instead of  ananás for their pineappples.
