About the Heartland Graduate Workshop in Ancient Studies

The Heartland Graduate Workshops in Ancient Studies are a series of annual meetings sponsored by graduate programs in Classics and related disciplines for the promotion of scholarly and professional connections among graduate students. The Heartland Workshops are intended (1) to provide an annual forum for engaged and thoughtful discussion of graduate student papers, expanding the opportunities already provided by SCS and CAMWS meetings where responses to papers are often constrained; and (2) to encourage and sustain a vibrant and creative academic community among participating programs in the central United States.

The 2016 iteration is the fifth installment of the workshop series and will be hosted by the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign on Friday, September 30th and Saturday, October 1st.

This year's theme is "Exhibition and Display in the Ancient World."
