On May 14th PTHS will celebrate the grandparents of Proviso Township by hosting its 3rd Annual Grandparents’ Day. This year Loyola University School of Nursing has agreed to join the Board of Education and West Suburban Senior Services in supporting the highly anticipated event which offers seniors a day of fun, health screenings, entertainment, and information.
“We have had a school based health center within Proviso East for over ten years,” said Diana Hackbarth RN, PhD, and Project Director for Proviso East’s Loyola University School Based Health Center. “The school of nursing at Loyola University of Chicago is pleased to participate in Grandparents’ Day as we seek further outreach in the Proviso communities.”
Grandparents’ Day is designed to honor all of the seniors and grandparents of Proviso Township. Grandparents are being treated to party bingo, a steppers’ dance party, door prizes, light refreshments, health screenings, and more. Proviso students will decorate and serve as volunteers at the event. PMSA’s choral group will also perform. In addition, WSSS staff will share information about services and assistance available to grandparents who are raising grandchildren.
