By clicking on any one of the procedures listed here, you'll be taken to the corresponding MedlinePlus page offering information about the surgery of procedure including overviews, recovery and rehabilitation, related issues, clinical trials, statistics, information for specific gender or age groups,  and tutorials.  MedlinePlus also offers hundreds of Videos of Surgical Procedures ("actual operations performed at medical centers in the United States since 2004").
Several hundred procedures are offered.  By clicking on any letter of the alphabet and selecting one of the topics that comes up, you'll be taken to a page with a detailed overview, reasons for the procedure, risks, preparation, what to expect during and after the procedure, related procedures, and links to other web sites.  (Link provided by Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.)

This site has patient information on a number of procedures. The site also provides "information to help you understand your disease, injury, operation, lab and test results, find a surgeon and find clinical trial sites" as well.
