Health courses- Nancy Cotty Decisions In Health course- 
This course is a required course for all students in the state of Maine.  It is scheduled as a sophomore class.  Students will learn how to make informed decisions about their personal health by learning information from the 10 mandated areas of health.  This course material is aligned with the Maine State Learning Results. The units that will be covered are as follows:  personal health and decision-making, mental and emotional health, substance awareness, disease prevention, healthy relationships, nutrition, growth and development, personal safety,community and environmental health.

Nutrition and Health- This is an elective course.  Students will learn about necessary nutrients, healthy eating and portions, obesity issues, body image/self-esteem,
healthy weight loss and weight gain, nutrition for athletes, nutritional deficiencies and disordered eating.

CPR/First Aid- This is an elective course.  Students will learn about heart health, CPR skills, basic first aid skills and accident prevention.

Stress Management Through Personal Health and Yoga- This is an elective course.  Students will learn what triggers their stress, the potential effects of stress on the mind and body and how to handle stress in healthy ways.  This class will combine stress management techniques with yoga practice.

 Current student grades can be found in Jupiter grades.

Classroom Cell Phone Policy- 
1.  Students will be asked to deposit their phones in the "Cotty Cell Hotel" in their assigned room.
2.  If a student refuses to check their phone into the hotel, it must stay in their pocket or backpack.  If a student takes it out, then a detention will be assigned by me and the student will then be requested to put the phone in the "Cotty Cell Hotel".
3.  If the student refuses to check the phone into the hotel (shoe organizer), then they will be sent to the office to see the assistant principal  and will likely be assigned an office detention in addition to the detention that was assigned from me.
