* How you can help  *

How you can help:

          1. Encourage businesses, church groups and organizations to post in Ladies bathrooms the emergency number for the closest domestic violence protection  agency.

         2. Ask local fire departments and auxiliaries, doctor's offices or other groups to sponsor presentations about domestic violence.  Healing a Woman's Soul and each County domestic violence agency have educators who do this.  Click here  to see county by county listings.

          3. Display posters in public locations about how to get help.

          4. Wear and distribute buttons that say "Who is YOUR 1 in 4?".   Buttons are free but a donation for postage is appreciated.  Contact HAWS to order buttons.

         5. Work with Healing a Woman's Soul or other anti-domestic violence organizations to eliminate this crime.

Facts:

Happens every 15 seconds in the United States.

One in four women are victims of domestic violence in their lifetime.

Domestic violence is the single major cause of injury to women, exceeding car accidents, rapes, and muggings.

Only about 48% of all violent acts are reported to the police.

Domestic violence leads to children becoming  abusers or victims themselves.
