Dario's treatment so far?
Update as of Dec. 22, 2007: (NEW!)
The hospital has agreed to do the transplant as a charity, meaning it will be free!! Thanks to all the media and people involved in fighting for Dario, we have made this miracle come to life. Dario will be choosing a donor on Wednesday and when all the details are set up, will be flying to Tampa for the bone marrow transplant. We still need to keep raising funds for him, because his medical expenses do not stop here. It will take months of special care and years of extra care to manage his health after the transplant. He is already $600,000 in debt with Memorial Hospital from his treatment up until now, and will occur more in the months and years to come. I will keep you updated as the week continues. Thanks for all your help and consideration!
Update as of Dec. 16, 2007:
Currently, Dario is staying in the hospital until January. He is undergoing a painful process as he recieves Colony Stimulating Factor injections. CSF injections stimulate his bone marrow(mostly wiped out from the chemotherapy) to synthesize new red and white blood cells. These injections cause severe pain localized to his bones. It is hard for him to even move around. Let's help him now so he doesn't have to go through this ever again.
Update as of Dec. 12, 2007:
Dario has undergone 3 chemotherapy treatments so far. He is Philadelphia Chromosome (9,22) positive, so this means that even after chemotherapy, this disease will eventually come back unless he receives a bone marrow transplant.
The doctor stated that he needs a bone marrow transplant in the next couple of weeks.
If he receives the bone marrow transplant soon, chances are very good he will live a long and fulfilling life.
