Philosophy

To Dr. Shah, the practice of homeopathy and naturopathy is a meditative practice in being present with the patients, providing a space for patients to heal and giving them the support and guidance they need on their healing journeys. Dr. Shah feels blessed to have found Naturopathy and having the ability to help fellow brothers and sisters to live healthier and more fulfilling lives.

Background

Dr. Shah was brought to Naturopathic Medicine through love for homeopathy.  Dr. Shah specializes in Homeopathy, Ayurveda, and Clinical Nutrition.  For her, health is a re-balancing of energy patterns in the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual bodies.  A physical symptom, no matter how seemingly menial, is most often a reflection of a deeper underlying issue—which through the body, the mind is trying to bring one’s attention to.  A physical symptom is a sign of an energetic imbalance or a block of free energy flow in the body.  In this space, healing does not equal curing.  Curing is generally a superficial, physical level response of disappearing symptoms (or in a lot of cases, suppression of symptoms).  On the other hand, healing is a process in which the patient’s commitment and motivation, along with help from a competent life coach/ doctor/ healer, allow the patient to realize a state of body-mind-spirit balance.  On this level, although the ‘physical’ symptoms disappear in time, the patient feels healthier, livelier, and more in balance.  Also, the patient will have gained knowledge about maintaining this balance through listening to one’s body-mind-spirit rather than finding a new pill to pop for every ‘new’ symptom that manifests in one’s life.

Education

Dr. Shah received her Naturopathic Medicine Degree from the University of Bridgeport, her Masters degree in Nutrition from University of Bridgeport Nutrtion Institute, and her Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Rutgers University.  Despite excelling in the pre-med program at Rutgers, Dr. Shah realized that she was attuned to how the mind, body, and spirit connect and reflect each other.  Psychology was fascinating but it only focused on the mind aspect.  On the other hand, the biology courses only talked about the physical body.  There was of course no talk of spirit unless it was a Religion/Theosophy class.  However, intuition guided her to discovering a path which connected all three. Throughout the four years of medical school, much of her free time was spent training in homeopathy with Dr. Nazirahk Amen, and other outstanding homeopaths.

Dr. Shah has also had the opportunity to learn Ayurveda in India through a clinical internship at a prominent Cancer Research Institute.  Her Ayurvedic training, from India, allows her to specialize therapy for patients based on principles of ancient wisdoms.
