Gerald Thompson, Board Member

In 1967, Gerry declared himself and artist. He was 16. In 1974, he received a B.S. in Chemistry from UC Riverside. During 1976 –1978, he was a Peace Corps volunteer teaching Chemistry in Kenya. His water color skills improved as he captured new and exciting subjects in Africa. After returning home, he studied Illustration at the Academy of Art College in San Francisco and worked as an analytical chemist. Eventually, he was all-in with Chemistry and received a Masters in Chemistry from San Francisco State University in 1988. For the next 24 years, he worked in the analytical chemistry and computer software fields. He seeks ever increasing ability to observe clearly and record my impressions accurately. His ability to visualize abstract concepts helps him achieve a unique artistic result.


Winnie Thompson, Board Member

Winifred Thompson (Winnie) and her husband Gerry enjoy painting in their studio. They are members of the Hayward Arts Council, Sun Gallery, and A.R.T., Inc. She is the president of the Diablo/Alameda County branch of the National League of American Pen Women and is a member of the Literacy Plus Council at the Hayward Library. She holds a Master of Science Degree in Education from Cal State University East Bay, Hayward. Winnie is the author of Fast Forward to Phonics - Everything You Ever Wanted to Learn But Didn't and My Name is America, a collection of life stories which she used while teaching GED students at the Hayward Adult School. Now retired, she enjoys tutoring, gardening, and traveling.
