CALL FOR ART

Location: The relocated Foothill Gallery in the Center for History and Culture,
22380 Foothill Blvd., Hayward 

Show Dates: July 7 through September 10, 2017

Eligibility: The show is open to members of HAC, Sun Gallery, and A.R.T., Inc., as well as students. Information about joining HAC can be found under the Join Us tab above. New members are welcome to participate. Click on the top link on the right to join or renew your membership and pay the show fee at the same time at a discount.

Requirement: The ONLY rule for this show is that the piece have both art and at least one word of text. It may have many more words, but it must have at least one. The word (or words) can be in any language, including Asian characters or even American Sign Language. Get creative!

If you don’t have any pieces that qualify, make something new! This is a fun challenge to test your powers of imagination. Watch the animation on the homepage to get an idea of what we’re looking for. Those are just a few examples. Check your stash. Make new art. Have some fun!

All media will be accepted - photography, painting, drawing, mixed media, journaling, sculpture, jewelry, cards, block prints - anything that can contain art and letters.

Sales: Foothill Gallery will retain a 20% commission. Artwork must remain through the duration of the show. Artists will received payment at the end of the show.

Intake: Saturday, June 24, 10 AM to 2 PM
Reception: Friday, July 7, 5:30 to 7:30 PM
Pick up art: Friday and Saturday, September 15 and 16, 10 AM to 2 PM

To enter, fill out the online Entry Form by clicking on the top link to the right. If you have any trouble with the online form or want a paper form, just drop us an email or give us a call and we'll get you registered. All contact information can be found under the "About Us" tab above.

All participating artists will be required to sign an Artist Contract. You will also need to have your pieces labeled on the back with a Receiving Slip. Click on the links to the right to see these documents or to print and fill them out in advance. All forms will be available at the intake as well.

Fee:

There is a fee of $15 to be in the show if you are a member of one of the galleries. This fee includes up to three pieces. The fee for non-members is $30, which includes pro-rated HAC membership. Students must join HAC at the $15 student rate, and participation in the show is included. You can pay by cash, check, or credit card at the intake, or click the link in the column to the right to pay online using PayPal.

The show will be juried by members of the HAC Board. Some cash prizes will be awarded, and some winners will receive this show-themed mug filled with hugs and kisses from HAC. Winners will be notified in advance, and the prizes awarded at the reception on Friday, July 7.
