This 1,248 acre preserve is located in the heart of Iowa’s Loess Hills and harbors some of the largest remaining prairie remnants in the state.  This unique area gives guest the chance to see the natural landscape of Iowa prior to commercialized farming.  In addition to the beautiful views visitors can enjoy many activities such as hiking, camping, picnicking, and bird watching.  Over 12 miles of hiking trails connect all corners of the park while the 45’ observation tower gives visitors a bird’s eye view of the hills.  The Loess Hills Lodge Interpretive Facility features interactive exhibits for visitors of all ages including the children’s Curiosity Cove with hands on activities for our youngest visitors.
