Teacher Grants

This funding is part of a teacher grant program we created this year. We are thrilled to work with the schools and teachers to fulfill these requests and bring these resources to the classrooms. 
The grants were awarded to the following departments. Each bulleted item represents a grant to a different teacher in that department.

Teacher Grants for HES
  • Kindergarten teachers: Classroom board games for use during recess and math time; and a new CD listening center for a classroom.
  • Kindergarten Grade: Art supplies to create “letters of the week” as part of their weekly literacy unit.
  • Fourth Grade: Maker Kits to be used across the curriculum that will allow students to participate in different design challenges during the course of their fourth grade experience.
  • Fifth Grade teacher: Blanding’s turtle head start program supplies for a second tank for science class.
  • Reading Tutoring: Wobble chairs for small groups.
  • Art Department: Blick Marblex gray self-drying clay to create a sculpture of the Hindu elephant Ganesh to give students a unique clay 3d experience; and table-top easels so that students can stand up and paint.
  • Special Education: Magnetic Story Board to allow students to practice sentences.
  • Technology Department: Paint to create a few areas of the building as a green screen.

Teacher Grants for Bromfield

World Language Department
  • External CD/DVD drives for use with MacBooks.
  • Games, manipulatives, easy readers, and videos that follow their units to enhance speaking and listening opportunities.
  • Foreign language materials, novels, and readers to build classroom library materials so students have a variety of choices during Free Voluntary Reading time.
  • Different sets of games to enhance student learning.
English Department
  • External DVDs to show documentaries/films that are not available online.
  • Five pairs of earphones for students to use in class with their iPads during reading times.
Special Education
  • The Extraordinaires® Design Studio PRO. These materials are designed to help students “foster empathy, creativity, resilience and self esteem” while using design thinking and creative problem solving.
Learning Center
  • New comfortable seating for students.
Health / Physical Education
  • Props (bolsters, blankets, straps) for the yoga classes at the Bromfield School.
Science Department
  • Three DVD portable players for their MacBook Airs.
Social Studies Department
  • Two DVD players to enable showing DVD materials.
  • Copy of Street Law’s Classroom Guide to Mock Trials and Moot Courts to use in both the Criminal Justice and Civil Law classes. Books Not Bars Documentary and classroom curriculum. For the Ancient and Medieval classes a DVD from NOVA scienceNOW: What Makes Us Human? Two resources for the AP European History class: Empires: Napoleon and an exam prep book that just came out called AP Achiever Exam Prep Guide European History.
  • Subscription to Listenwise (partnered with NPR).
  • Presentation pointer to use for class presentations, specifically for economics.
