HarpArts in Petoskey,MI

unset over Traverse Bay, Petoskey, MI

Removed from the everyday distractions of our busy adult lives, we can focus on learning: on enhancing individual musical and technical accomplishments; on sharing and performing with others; on developing contextual musical skills (history and theory), and on reflecting on the role music plays in our daily lives. Come join us at HarpArts!

We are delighted this year to be working with Mo Rave and The Terrace Inn, a lovely 41 room hybrid B & B/hotel in historic Bay View Michigan.  Call Belinda at 231-347-2410 and mention HarpArts for a special rate for HarpArts attendees.  The Terrace Inn is about 2 miles from both the AHC (private lessons) and Emmanuel Episcopal Church (ensembles, classes, and our concert!). There are a variety of room types available with several main floor rooms included in our choices!  Breakfast is included, and the onsite restaurant is open for dinner also. Some rooms come with small refrigerators so food options will be easy to customize.  We’re currently arranging for HarpArts folks to play for dinner one night in the hotel- very casual, and oh so much fun!  Everyone is going to love having live harp music while they dine and you’ll get one more optional crack at performing in public!

Petoskey is located in the heart of Northern Michigan's vacation paradise, and accommodation options abound.  If you want to look at alternatives to The Terrace Inn, we're listing some options here.  Also, check out the complete list on the Petoskey Chamber of Commerce website.

Petoskey is located west of  Interstate 75, 40 miles south of the Mackinac Bridge. Driving, and being able to bring your own harp, is straightforward.  If flying is your preference, Petoskey is served by the Pellston Regional Airport, 20 miles to the north, and the Traverse City Cherry Capital Airport, 75 miles to the West/Southwest.

Pellston Regional Airport is served by connector flights from Detroit Metro.  Traverse City airport is served by connector flights from multiple originations.   Petoskey and Bay View provide lots of opportunities for walking, and it's a short 1.4 miles into town but alas, there are limited public transportation options in the area.  If you think you might be interested in exploring the region more completely, or prefer the autonomy of driving yourself to and from rehearsals over sharing a ride with others, you may want to consider renting a car.   Local taxi service exists, and there is a downtown trolley.   But to enjoy on your own so much of what Northern Michigan has to offer, a car could come in handy! Most of the retreat classes and rehearsals are held at Emmanual Episcopal Church and HarpArts attendees tend to travel together to and from the church, and to and from the American Harp Center.  The harps are safely kept at the church throughout the retreat.

  Imagine yourself...
  Discussing music with friends,
 taking a walk around Petoskey,

practicing a tricky section of music with a friend,

joining the group in a rehearsal.

The options are many and varied so join us for a week of
energy, learning, and hospitality.
