Cable assembly

So I press fit a 50 way 3M MDR shielded ribbon cable connector by hand. I could have bought the 3M fancy press fitting machine for x squillion, but opted for  making a couple of laser cut plastic jigs and using a vice instead. I used 10mm plastic for making the pressing jigs as they needed to take some pressure. They are shaped to allow the cable to bend clear of the vice as you crank it all down. No one was more suprised than I am when it all worked!

Cable and connector components.

Cable faned out with pressing jigs taped below.

Cable ready to be press fit together. Note the blue tack holding the jigs together!

Press fitting the connector components. Note the foam to protect the connector face.

Cable being used in anger.
