About Me

I am currently a PhD candidate working with Dr. Shaowen Wang at the Department of Geography and Geographic Information Science in the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). Meanwhile, I am a graduate research assistant in the National Center for Supercomputing Applications at UIUC. I have defended my dissertation in Jan 2018.

My major research area is Geographic Information Science (GIScience) and particularly in cyberinfrastructured-based GIS (aka cyberGIS). I consider GIScience as a critical enabler of science and technology that many other scientific domains (e.g., agriculture, public health, transportation, urban planning, archaeology) can benefit from. I am passionate about interesting and challenging geospatial problems that require critical spatial thinking and advanced geospatial technologies. 

Before joining UIUC, I got my M.S. degree in Geography from University at Buffalo and my B.S. degree in Geographic Information Science from Nanjing University, China.

  • An online resource for paleoenvironmental data and models
  • Enabling scholars to easily discover, explore, visualize, and synthesize knowledge of environments in the recent or remote past
   
  Scalable Raster Mapping and Analytical Service 
  • Providing near real-time visual analytic capabilities for exploration of large raster datasets (TB level)
  • Supporting raster data importing and partitioning, index building, and map tiling and resampling
   
  Enhancing Usability of High-resolution Topographic Datasets (TopoLens) 
  • Exploit HPC and Cloud environment on ROGER supercomputer to support user-driven topographic data access
