York Motor Show 2019.

1st September 2019

For the last two years the York Motor Show has been pushed back from July to September to try to avoid the wet weather previously experienced. This wasn't entirely successful on September the 1st this year, but at least the rain held off until later in the day. It resulted in car numbers being down to about 260, less than half of last years turnout. Some of the old car fraternity can be a bit delicate when there is a danger of their vehicles getting wet.

This '27 Pontiac was not put off by the forecast rain.                        Nor this Chevvy Corvette looking across the street to our display.

Luckily we HTPSWA members were sited under the verandah in front of the York pharmacy. Nigel and Rob ran the sales tables and had quite a successful day, while Arthur and Geoff held visitors spellbound with their displays and demonstrations of planes, including the tongue and groove plane demonstrated by Arthur.  Geoff had brace wrenches,  various valve lapping tools and screw drivers. The four of us were assisted by the ever patient Lorraine, Maggie, Diane and Elaine.

Along from us was a ukulele band playing cheerful music most of the day.
The main street in front of us was well filled with cars of many eras while down at the park near the river, the Bus Preservation Society of WA  (BPSWA) was kept busy giving visitors rides around town.
This is a good day out and well worth the drive up the hill from Perth, just remember to bring your brolly.
